Portland Steam Laundry

The Portland Steam Laundry is a former commercial laundry at Brymers Avenue in Fortuneswell. It was opened in 1900 by the Portland Steam Laundry Company Ltd and remained in business until the late 1950s. It then became an engineering workshop until 2005, then briefly an arts centre in 2010-11, and is now derelict.
The former laundry is one of the area's most prominent reminders of Portland's industrial past. It became a Grade II listed building in March 2019 and is also considered a landmark building within the conservation area of Underhill.
